Notice of Meeting
Notice is hereby given that the 57th Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3rd, 2026, from 9:00AM-11:00AM - Eastern Daylight Time.
This AGM will be conducted in person in accordance with the GymCan By-laws. All participants are required to register in advance to attend the meeting.
Member organizations of GymCan must confirm their one (1) voting Delegate for the AGM at least seven (7) days prior to the meeting, in accordance with Section 33 of the By-laws. In addition, any proxy appointments must comply with the By-laws, and GymCan must be notified of such appointments at least seven (7) days prior to the AGM.
To register for the AGM please fill out the Registration Form below. Please note that the registration for the AGM will close on September 25, 2026. If needed, the Proxy form can also be found below.
The agenda, and the minutes from the 2025 AGM will be circulated with the audited financial statements in advance of the meeting.

Guest Speakers
Ann Pegoraro, PhD
Ann is the Lang Chair in Sport Management and the Director of the International Institute for Sport Business and Leadership at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph, Canada. her research centers on emerging issues in sport management. She is a board member of Ontario Soccer and has consulted with sport organizations in Canada and abroad. Ann is passionate about contributing to sport in Canada and ensuring access for future generations.
Anne Merklinger
Chief Executive Officer
An elite athlete for most of her life, Anne Merklinger was a member of Canada's national swim team from 1977–1981. Anne earned a silver medal at the 1979 World University Games in the 200‐metre breaststroke.
After a distinguished swimming career, Anne focused on curling and since the early 1980's she competed with distinction at every major event she entered. She was consistently ranked as one of Canada's foremost curlers, winning the Ontario Women’s Curling Championships in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 2000. She has twice led her team to the final of the Scott Tournament of Hearts (1998 and 2000).
A passionate, creative, and inspiring leader, Anne has more than 30 years of management experience with national sport organizations. Prior to becoming CEO, Anne held the position of Director, Summer Sports with Own the Podium. She previously worked with CanoeKayak Canada in the role of Director General, and has also worked with the Commission for Inclusion of Athletes with a Disability and the Canadian Federation of Sport Organization for the Disabled.
Anne’s life‐long experience in sport as an athlete and professional is complemented by extensive volunteer experience with a number of organizations including the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, Women’s Tour of Curling, CAAWS, and Special Olympics Canada.
