At Leap, we’re proud to be leaders in the dance industry – known not only for our exceptional training but for the supportive, inclusive, and fun community we’ve built together. Our competition development teams offer a unique opportunity for dancers to grow in confidence, skill, and teamwork through performance and training.

The first step toward joining a team is attending our Placement Camp. These are not formal auditions – they're friendly, welcoming classes led by our skilled and encouraging Directors. During the session, students will be guided through short combinations and movement exercises so we can determine which class levels and choreography routines will best support their growth, confidence, and success in the season ahead.

No matter your age or experience, we have a team for you – and we can’t wait to help you find your spark and take the stage with joy, pride, and purpose.

Start by completing the form below to register for our Placement Camp! You can fill out this form BEFORE attending Camp - in fact, you might want to fill out the form right away to reserve your spot (and we can help you with class selections prior to camp start).

After the Placement Camp, our team provides you with the following:

1. Provide team division eligibility based on your 2026/27 class registration (registration for classes takes place starting May 1). You will receive your team division option(s) with all the information pertaining to competitive routines, pricing, and scheduling commitments.

2. Based on your acceptance the team division, group routines, and fees, you may be invited to submit extra choreography requests (solos/duets/trios) based on the classes and groups you have accepted, as well as our director's guidance.

3. Team deposits are due June 30, and will be outlined in your post-placement camp offer. 

Our 2026/27 Dance Teams program officially kicks off August 29-30, 2026 with a workshop-style intensive and special performances for families at Decidedly Jazz Dance Center! 

Schedule will be shared for Team members upon accepting their offer.

Please complete the following information to register your dancer for their Team Placement Camp. Advance registration is required:

Leap Dance Teams are structured into three divisions based on training commitment and readiness:

• Performance Team — up to 6 hours/week of classes | 2 local competitions/festivals
• Company Team — 6+ hours/week of classes | 3 local competitions + 1 in Alberta and additional travel opportunities for optional events
• Elite Team — 10+ hours/week of classes (advanced, by invitation)  | 3 local competitions + 1 in Alberta and additional travel opportunities for optional events

These divisions align with standard competition categories and help ensure dancers are training at a level that supports their performance experience.

Based on each dancer’s placement and training schedule, group routines will be offered. Once group participation is confirmed, additional opportunities such as solos, duets, and trios may be extended at the studio’s discretion.

All casting and routine decisions are made by the studio to ensure appropriate placement, balanced teams, and a positive experience for all dancers.

Saturday, May 30
 

12:00 - 1:00 PM for ages 6-8 (with our without competition experience)

1:15 - 2:45 PM for ages 9-11 (with our without competition experience)

3:00 - 4:30 PM for ages 12+ (less than 5 years of competition experience)

4:45 - 6:15 PM for ages 12+ (with over 5 years of competition experience)

6:30 - 8:30 PM all camp participants welcome to attend our in-studio team rally party: dancing, karaoke, pizza, and prizes!

Parent Info Session

Sunday May 31 from 1:15 - 2:00 PM : attend to learn more about Leap's highly-acclaimed Dance Teams program, including how we cast routines, how students track through their classes in our levelled system, how we choose competitions, events, costumes, music, and choreographers - who is involved in our delivering our teams program (and importantly, why!), plus what you can expect from the team experience at Leap! Our team will be available for questions between 2:00-3:00 pm, and always, via email!

TEAM PLACEMENT CAMP FEE:

There is no fee for 2025/26 Team Members to attend on these dates as it was included in your membership fee for this current season. 

All other registrants are assessed a fee to participate in all the events that are applicable for their age: $40 + GST

WHAT IF I HAVE A SCHEDULE CONFLICT AND CAN'T ATTEND?:

1:1 appointments are available based on our faculty's availability, and the fee is $40 + GST per student for a 20-minute personal assessment and parent meeting post-assessment. Parents are of course welcome to stay on-site for the personal assessment.
