Call for Volunteers – Join Us at the Taekwondo Manitoba Winter Classic Tournament!
Taekwondo Manitoba is contacting our community to step up and support our athletes! To keep costs down for our members and ensure a successful event, we need your help. Volunteers are crucial to making this tournament a memorable experience, and we’re counting on you to join us.
Volunteer Benefits: All volunteers will receive an official tournament T-shirt and lunch. Simply fill out the form with your area of interest, and we’ll schedule you accordingly.
Exciting Update for 2025: Starting next year, Taekwondo Manitoba will officially track volunteer hours. Your dedication will be recognized during awards at our 2025 Winter Classic Event, as we celebrate those who make this event possible.
To volunteer, a background check is required. If you completed one for the Manitoba Open, you’re already on file. If not, please indicate your need, and we’ll arrange it through Taekwondo Canada at no cost to you.

Pick up Mats from storage facility and deliver to Venue Sports MB
Meet at the storage facility to help transfer mats from the storage locker to transportation truck and deliver to the venue. Mats will be heavy and a bit dirty, recommend old clothes that can get dirty and gloves.Unload the mats at 145 Pacific Ave using the freight elevator. Drop-off will be in flex area of court 3.Saturday pick up the mats and deliver back to storage locker.

Sparring athletes will be showing up at 6 to get their credentials and get weighed in. Athletes and coaches will be picking up their credentials. Parents may want to buy their wristbands for the tournament. At the end of the evening, we will need to pack up the credentials, cash box, and wristbands.

Weigh-in Male
There will be two referees running the weigh-in, and volunteers will help to keep the athletes in line and in order.
Weigh-in Female
Help with staging the athletes as their turn comes up. There will only be athletes, coaches, referees, and volunteers in the warm-up area. Keep an eye on things, make sure the kids are behaving and help the runners to find kids before their events.

Your job is to ensure that people are sitting down and not blocking views for other people and keeping the area tidy.. Keep an eye on the spectators and if there are any issues please let your volunteer coordinator know. THERE IS TO BE NO FOOD IN THE GYM. They can eat in the lobby. Looking for people who don’t belong.

Remember to wear comfortable clothing, closed-toe shoes, and gloves if needed for heavy lifting.
Thank you for volunteering with Taekwondo Manitoba. Your safety and well-being are of utmost importance to us. Please review the following waiver and release agreement, which includes a photo release statement and a criminal background check acknowledgment. By signing below, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms.
1. Assumption of RiskI, the undersigned volunteer, understand that my participation in the Taekwondo Manitoba Winter Classic Tournament may involve physical activities, movement of equipment, and other duties that could result in personal injury or damage to personal property. I acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in this event, fully aware of the potential risks involved, including but not limited to slips, falls, strains, and injuries associated with moving and setting up equipment. I assume full responsibility for my own safety and for any injury or harm that may occur as a result of my participation.
2. Release of LiabilityIn consideration of being allowed to volunteer, I release and discharge Taekwondo Manitoba, its directors, officers, employees, agents, sponsors, and any affiliated entities or individuals from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action that may arise from my participation as a volunteer. This waiver extends to any liability arising from the negligence of the released parties to the fullest extent permitted by law.
3. Medical TreatmentI consent to receive basic first aid and/or medical treatment, as deemed necessary, during my time as a volunteer. I understand that any costs associated with medical treatment will be my sole responsibility. In the event of a medical emergency, I authorize Taekwondo Manitoba to seek medical assistance on my behalf.
4. Criminal Background CheckI acknowledge that my volunteer role requires a cleared criminal background check. I confirm that I have completed and passed a background check for Taekwondo Manitoba. If I have not previously completed this check, I authorize Taekwondo Canada to conduct one on my behalf, at no cost to me.
5. Image and Media ReleaseI grant permission for Taekwondo Manitoba to capture, use, and publish photographs, videos, or other media that include my likeness while volunteering, for purposes such as promotion, marketing, and documentation of the event. I understand that these images may be used in print or digital formats without compensation or notification.
6. Acknowledgment of Policies and ProceduresI agree to comply with all event policies, guidelines, and instructions provided by Taekwondo Manitoba staff, coordinators, or their representatives. I understand that failure to comply may result in the termination of my volunteer status.
7. Binding AgreementThis waiver and release shall be binding upon me and my heirs, personal representatives, successors, and assigns. I confirm that I have carefully read and fully understand this waiver and release, and I voluntarily agree to its terms.
