What is heritage ?
Heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations *. It consists of persons of historical importance, historic events and sites, heritage documents, immovables, objects and sites, heritage cultural landscapes, and intangible heritage (Cultural Heritage Act).
For the purposes of this survey, the heritage assets we are interested in are main buildings (houses, churches, etc.), secondary buildings (barns, sugar shacks, etc.), constructions and structures (bridges, dams, mills, monuments, roadside crosses, public works of art, etc.), sectors or sites of interest (main streets, historic neighbourhoods, groups of old houses, golf courses, etc.) and scenic routes.
