The following rules and regulations for fishing in Lake Summerside must be read and agreed upon prior to any member being permitted to fish.
1. All fishing will be done at your own risk.
2. Fishing privileges on Lake Summerside are restricted to Summerside Members only. Guests are not permitted to fish without a Member present.
3. The daily catch limit is two (2) Trout (Rainbow or Brook) per day with a monthly limit of twelve (12) Trout. Any Trout (Rainbow or Brook) caught by guests will be included in the resident’s household limit. Note at this time, there is no daily limit on the amount of perch that may be caught per day by residents or their guests.
4. Our Catch & Release policy is in effect for our Tiger Trout until further notice.
5. All fish must be reported to the Gatehouse before the return of the membership card. Catch limits and reporting allow for proper management and restocking, which creates an enjoyable experience for all.
6. If fishing from Entry Park, you must still report any fish caught to the Summerside Residents Association (SSRA) by either stopping at, or calling the Gatehouse.
7. No live bait or nets may be used to catch fish. Powerbait or any other live bait simulator is also not allowed.
8. Barbless hooks only.
9. Only one (1) fish line per person is permitted.
10. Unattended fishing line or equipment will be confiscated for violation.
11. No cleaning of fish is permitted on any Lake Summerside amenities or property.
12. Propane heaters are permitted while ice fishing. The maximum allowed size of the propane bottle is 5 pounds, and no exposed flame is allowed.
13. Only hand-powered or electric augers are allowed.
14. No live fish may leave the park.
15. Random tackle box checks may be performed before and after entering the lake to ensure all rules and regulations are being followed.
16. Fishing is not permitted from any undeveloped or unoccupied lot on Lake Summerside.
17. Fishing is not permitted from the boat docks or along any portion of the beach swim area.
18. Fishing is allowed from Entry Park, the Beach Club Fishing Dock, and the Fishing Cove locations ONLY. Fishing from the rocks or boat dock is not permitted.
19. Ice fishing tents are permitted, however, they must not be a permanent structure of any kind, and must be taken down each day. All park rules, including alcohol consumption and smoking, must be followed while using a tent.
20. Fishing will be allowed from the SSRA fishing boat and canoes. Residents may fish from their own watercraft upon approval from SSRA staff.
21. In order to properly control and maintain the fish population in the lake, the SSRA reserves the right to, without notice, suspend fishing in the lake for a period of time
22. The SSRA may change these rules without posted notice. Instruction of SSRA staff must be followed while fishing on the Lake.
By completing the above information, you have acknowledged that you have read and understood the Lake Summerside Fishing Rules and Regulations document. Violation of the above rules and regulations may result in the temporary confiscation of your SSRA card and/or fishing equipment. It may also result in the restriction or loss of your fishing privileges at Lake Summerside as determined by SSRA Management.
