A. Pre-Tournament Planning & Preparation:
- Scheduling & Draws:
- Create the tournament schedule for all Taekwondo divisions (e.g., age, belt level, weight categories), considering mat availability, participant numbers, and time constraints.
- Develop fair and balanced match pairings and tournament brackets/pools, adhering to Taekwondo Manitoba Sanctioning Policy
- Publish and communicate the Taekwondo tournament schedule and draws to participants and coaches in a timely manner. Draws will be published the night before on the website.
B. Tournament Execution (During the Event):
On-Site Management:
- Oversee all aspects of tournament operations during the event, with a primary focus on the smooth flow of Taekwondo matches. Ensure efficient transition between matches and divisions on each competition mat safely.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Taekwondo participants, coaches, volunteers, officials, and venue staff.
Schedule & Time Management:
- Strictly monitor the Taekwondo tournament schedule and ensure matches begin and conclude on time, minimizing delays.
- Proactively manage match flow and timing to maintain the overall tournament schedule. Utilize timekeeping systems effectively for match durations and breaks.
- Communicate any necessary schedule adjustments promptly to participants and coaches.
Participant Services & Experience:
- Serve as the primary on-site contact point for Taekwondo coaches, participants, and officials.
- Address questions and concerns from coaches promptly and professionally regarding match schedules, rules interpretations, scoring, and tournament logistics.
- Ensure Taekwondo participants have access to necessary amenities and information throughout the tournament.
Results Management & Scoring:
- Oversee the accurate and timely recording of Taekwondo match scores using appropriate scoring methods (electronic scoring, manual scoring sheets).
- Ensure proper recording of match results and winner advancement within tournament brackets/pools.
- Implement a system for displaying and announcing Taekwondo match results to participants and spectators.
Required Skills & Qualifications (can be further enhanced):
- Familiarity with Taekwondo competition rules and regulations (WT and Taekwondo Manitoba sanctioning policy) is essential.
- Experience in organizing and running Taekwondo tournaments or similar combat sports events is highly desirable.
- Understanding of Taekwondo scoring systems and match procedures.
Results & Official Reporting:
- Compile, verify, and finalize all Taekwondo tournament match results for all divisions.
- Prepare and distribute official results reports to Taekwondo Manitoba
- Ensure results are properly recorded
- Address any post-tournament results inquiries or disputes promptly and professionally.
- Conduct a comprehensive post-tournament review with the Executive Committee,to assess the tournament's success, identify areas for improvement, and gather feedback specific to the Taekwondo competition aspects
