The Larval Mask is a powerful gateway into imagination, physical awareness, and stage presence.
Before character, before words, before intention itself—there is movement, emotion, and inner impulse.
In this workshop led by Johanne Benoit, participants are invited to slow down, listen, and allow the body to speak. The larval mask—simple, neutral, and deeply expressive—creates a space where transformation, curiosity, and surprise can naturally emerge.
Through focused exploration of:
- slowness and quality of movement
- space, rhythm, and breath
- sensory awareness and imagination
artists develop a strong embodied presence, clarity of gesture, and a direct connection between body and imagination.
This workshop is designed for actors, clowns, dancers, and performing artists who wish to refresh their creative process, move beyond habits, and reconnect with a state of pure, playful exploration.
The larval mask does not impose.
It reveals.
