You might be curious if this is something you would like to do, and just want to get started to see if you like roller skating, or possibly you are someone that’s just ready to receive instruction so you can safely add more skills at a pace that feels right, this is your class! This is the ultra-basic, new skater friendly class you’ve been waiting for! Welcome to Learn to Roller Skate!
Duration: 1 hour. Loved the class? Come back as often as you like! For returning students, Elaine provides specialized coaching in a separate area to help you refine your technique at your own pace.
Hi! My name is Elaine. I am the Co-Founder of Retro Rollers Inc, and your roller skate Instructor! I’m excited to teach you how to safely slow down and stop, stride, steer and we also touch on backwards skating all while building your confidence and understanding how to utilize your body to move gracefully. In addition to those skills, knowing how to position yourself to keep your balance in check, and even catch your balance to prevent falls. We have you covered!
If you are super nervous, we strongly recommended that you bring and wear safety gear. We recommend wrist guards, helmet, elbow and knee pads – or at least at minimum wrist and helmet protection. You will be happy you did! We do not rent out helmets, or safety gear.
- Please arrive at least 15 mins before the start of class (doors will be open 30 min before)
- Rental roller skates are additional $5
- Created for the age 14+ beginner skater, or those who want to improve the basics of roller skating.
- If minimum class size is not met then we reserve the right to bump participants to the next scheduled class.
- Safety gear such as helmets, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads are strongly recommended. (most people decide to have gear after the first try). We do not rent helmets or safety gear.
- Participants are encouraged to bring their own full water bottle for hydration – you will be happy you did!
- If we postpone for any reason, you will receive a replacement class.
- We know there are few exceptions, however spectators watching can be overwhelming for those taking this class, and we ask that they make other arrangements for the duration of the class.
- This is a ROLLER SKATE lesson, therefore inline skates are not permitted. These are two different activities and requires the use of roller skates specifically.
- There is lots of parking available, and it is free.
