Jensen Lakes HOA Watercraft Rules and Regulations

Physical membership cards are required for all JLHOA Watercraft Rentals. “Pre‑Possession” residents may use government‑issued photo ID in place of a membership card. No other exceptions. Nannies and caregivers are not permitted to rent JLHOA watercraft.

Residents must leave their membership card at the rental dock with JLHOA staff. Cards will be returned after the rental (maximum 1 hour per rental; maximum 3 watercraft per household).

Acknowledgement of Responsibility

The JLHOA member signing this form must be 16 years or older and remain on the water, in the same or a separate watercraft, and within a reasonable distance of 10 metres of any resident in their household or guest they bring with them.

Restrictions and Equipment Responsibility

Timing & Rental Limits

A maximum rental period of 1 hour applies per rental.
A maximum of 3 watercraft per household may be rented at one time.
No watercraft may be taken out within 30 minutes of rental closure, and all JLHOA watercraft must be returned before rental closure.

Safety Requirements

A proper life jacket must be worn at all times while using JLHOA‑owned watercraft.
Watercraft must not enter the designated swim area.
Watercraft may not be used during closures, recalls, or unsafe weather conditions.
Standing in watercraft is not permitted unless the watercraft is designed for that purpose.
Max weight capacity limits:
- Adult Kayaks: 88kg (195lb.)
- Kids Kayaks: 59kg (130lb.)
- Paddleboards: 160kg (350lb.)
- Pedal boat: 351kg (775 lb.)

Prohibited Activities

Horseplay, roughhousing, or unsafe behaviour is not permitted.
Fishing from JLHOA‑owned watercraft is not permitted.
Watercraft may only be docked or beached at the JLHOA Boat Dock.

Equipment Care

All equipment must be returned in good condition.
Any damage must be reported immediately and may be subject to reimbursement.

Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability*

I understand that the use of watercraft involves inherent risks of injury, including but not limited to:

Slips, trips, and falls on wet surfaces
Capsizing or falling into the water
Collisions with other watercraft, swimmers, docks, or shoreline
Weather‑related hazards, including wind, waves, and reduced visibility
Equipment malfunction or improper use
Drowning or near‑drowning incidents
Injuries caused by other participants or guests
Exposure to cold water, sun, or environmental conditions

In consideration for being permitted to use JLHOA‑owned watercraft, I release and discharge:
The Jensen Lakes Homeowners Association, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, contractors, volunteers, and property managers, from any and all liability, claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising from: Personal injury, Property damage, Loss of personal items, Accidents or incidents occurring on or around JLHOA watercraft, docks, or the lake whether caused by negligence or otherwise, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

This section must be signed by any JLHOA resident age 18 or older, OR A parent or legal guardian signing on behalf of a minor.
