This code is applicable to all Langmobile Camp employees who are working with children.
It is crucial to
respect this code at all times. The code of ethics outlines what is expected of Langmobile employees in
terms of their behaviour and their interactions with other employees. The code has been developed with
the most important values of Langmobile in mind, these being: team work, collaboration, the joy of
childhood, professionalism, and respect of ones self and others.
As a camp counsellor, supervisor, or coordinator, I will:
1. Demonstrate engagement and understanding when interacting with students, parents and
colleagues.
2. Remain calm and polite when interacting with parents.
3. Abstain from the use of violence, including physical and psychological, against students and
colleagues.
4. Respect interventions carried out by other members of the Langmobile team.
5. Demonstrate discretion in my professional and social relationships.
a. Parties will not be organized at the work site.
b. Presence at work will not be affected by any activities following the work day
6. Refer to my superior in cases of confrontation.
7. Communication problematic situations or complaints to my superior.
8. Have a dynamic presence and a quality animation for the students.
9. Warmly welcome students, parents and colleagues to camp site.
10. Always be punctual and on task.
a. Late openings of daycare are not acceptable.
11. Ask for help when unable to accomplish a task.
12. Provide comments in a constructive manner and be open to feedback.
a. Remain positive: to maintain a good team spirit
13. Remain flexible and adapt to unexpected situations
14. Constantly be aware of the safety of everyone around you, in particular the students.
15. Respect and help others respect safety rules that are provided.
16. Respective the established administrative procedures.
17. Verify that all areas of camp being used are safe and advise a superior if an unsafe situation is
identified.
18. Quickly advise a superior of any broken equipment.
19. Take care of equipment, the site, and materials provided.
20. Never smoke during paid working hours.
21. Never come to camp inebriated or under the influence of drugs, otherwise immediate dismissal
will take place.
22. Maintain clean and welcoming workspaces.
23. Maintain a proper appearance and proper dress.
a. Only one piece swimsuits
b. Running shoes are obligatory
c. Sandals are obligatory on water days
d. It is obligatory to wear the Langmobile shirt provided
e. Any drawing or writing on shirts is not permitted
24. The use of cellphones for personal affairs is not permitted during paid working hours.
25. All counsellors must take their designated lunch break.
26. Have your superior approve any special projects, or major modifications envisioned for lessons.
27. Never leave the worksite before the end of the work day without permission from my superior.
28. Advise my superior as early as possible of any absence.
29. Provide all necessary documents to my superior in the proper time and place.
30. Respect the schedule provided at the beginning of the summer and any changes made throughout
the summer.
31. Provide sufficient notice if leaving your position mid-way through the summer.
32. It is not permitted be in contact with students on social media.
33. You are not permitted to take photos of the children.
34. During physical contact and when supervising children
a. Stay in view of others when talking alone to a child, when physically encouraging a child or showing affection.
b. Listen to what a child has to say: he or she likes or doesn’t like to be touched.
c. Report to the person responsible for violence and sexual aggression any private intervention made on behalf of a child.
d. Entrust physical examinations, if necessary to a health professional; in an emergency situation ensure that another adult is present.35. Application of sunscreen
a. You are not allowed to apply sunscreen for a child
b. The assumption is parents applied an early morning sunscreen but midday children need to re-apply
c. If children require assistance between ages of 3-6 follow the following guidelines
i. Spray the child or put cream directly strategically on faces and arms and legs and
encourage them to spread the crème
The respect of this code of ethics is crucial. It is not a question of image; but addresses first and foremost the respect of ones self and of the team surrounding you.
If you fail to respect one or may of the points found in the code of ethics, or in the description of you job, disciplinary measures will be taken.
