CPST Training Course

Child Passenger Safety Technician Training Course. Items with * are required to complete registration.

Do you have a passion for child safety?

Do you regularly transport children and want to ensure they are travelling as safely as possible?

This program certifies participants as Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) through the Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada (CPSAC).

Participants will learn about the mechanics of a collision, Canadian legislation governing child restraints, and the different stages and types of child restraint systems and how they function.

The course includes hands-on practice to build confidence with a variety of installation methods, as well as training on how to effectively support parents and caregivers in selecting and using car seats and booster seats correctly.

Successful candidates will receive a CPST certificate valid for three years, membership with CPSAC, volunteer liability insurance, access to regional and national networking and peer support, and ongoing updates as technology, standards, and best practices evolve.

Community Clinic August 22, from 12:30 pm-3:30 pm

Regular short breaks will be offered throughout, and there will be at least half an hour for lunch.

This course will include a catered lunch.

Successful completion of the course requires 100% attendance for both the classroom and clinic portions, with skills assessment by the instructor(s) throughout the course. Successful candidates will receive a professional certificate that is valid for 3 years.

The CPST training Course requires 100% attendance to all classroom and hands-on elements to successfully complete the course.
Accommodation requests must be discussed with the instructor at least 72 hours before class starts.
Lunch will be catered for this course. Any allergies or dietary needs must be communicated to the instructors 1 week before the first day of class.
Refunds will not be available for student withdrawals, cancellations, or no-shows.
This is a hands on class with indoor and outdoor components. Students are responsible for checking weather forecasts daily and coming prepared for all weather conditions.
This course contains hands on practice installing seats in vehicles. Please be aware that jewelry, long finger nails, may get caught and/or broken during the class activities. It is recommended to minimize jewelry and avoid long fingernails for the duration of the class.
Class content is intensive and requires focus. Students will be asked to place phones on silent and to use them during break times.
Refund & Cancellation Policy:
Participant Cancellation: Cancellations are non-refundable, as course materials, venue costs, and instructor commitments have already been finalized. Participants who do not attend or withdraw after the course has begun are not eligible for a refund.
Course Cancellation by Organizer: In the event that Grande Prairie and Area Safe Communities cancels a course (including cancellation due to low registration), participants will receive a full refund of all fees paid to the original form of payment.
