Coach & Officials Travel Subsidy Program

SportNL supports coaches and officials in accessing development opportunities that may require travel. The Travel Subsidy Program helps reduce the financial barriers associated with attending approved coaching and officiating courses, certifications, and professional development opportunities, as well as bringing in certified facilitators from out of province.

Eligible applicants can receive financial assistance to offset travel-related expenses, helping them advance their qualifications and strengthen sport development across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Funding is subject to program eligibility requirements, application approval, and available funds.

General Information

Application Review Schedule: Applications are assessed on a quarterly basis (January, April, July, and October).
Funding Amount: Eligible applicants may receive up to 50% of the total course cost.
Funding Frequency: Coaches may receive funding once per calendar year and not within 12 months of a previously approved application.
Additional Funding: Applicants are encouraged to seek supplementary funding or financial assistance from other sources.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must:

Be a resident of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Be a member in good standing with a Provincial Sport Organization (PSO) recognized by Sport NL.
Be pursuing NCCP Sport-Specific training or NCCP-recognized Professional Development opportunities.

Application Requirements

All applications must include:

Official endorsement from the relevant PSO.
Applications submitted without PSO endorsement will not be reviewed.
A clear description of the course or training opportunity, including relevant dates and costs.

Post-Course Requirements

Successful applicants are required to submit the following upon course completion:

A brief completion report,
A financial breakdown of costs, and
Receipts for all expenses associated with the course if applying for funding after course completion.
