Spooky Season is upon us! Get ready to embrace the tricks and treats of the season with The City of Elliot Lake's Spooktacular Halloween Decorating contest.

This is a family-friendly contest open to all properties within Elliot Lake, whether it's your house, condo/apartment, or business. Properties must be within Elliot Lake to be considered.

Registration is free and mandatory to participate in the contest.

Registration Period: open until October 22nd, 2025.

Spooky Map: posted on October 24th, 2025.

Contest Judging Period: Saturday, October 25th through to Tuesday, October 28th.

Winners Announcement: Thursday, October 30th, 2025.

Prize Categories

People's Choice Award - community members will vote for their favorite display
Spine Chilling - panel of judges
Most Creative - panel of judges

Winners from each of the categories will receive a commemorative lawn sign acknowledging their spooktacular display and category they placed in on October 30th, 2025. Each winner will also receive a $50.00 gift card.

Rules

Open to residential and commercial properties in the City of Elliot Lake
Competition dates are Saturday, October 25 through Tuesday, October 28, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Contest is limited to exterior decorations, which must be visible from the curbside.
Decorations must not cover/interfere with any fire safety equipment, roadways or sidewalks/walkways.
Keep everything PG-13.
Special Effects/Lighting/Inflatables must be operating each night during the competition (between 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.)
Voting/Judging may take place anytime during the competition dates/times.
Photos & Media: participants must agree to have photos of their displays and their addresses posted online, including, at the sole discretion of the City of Elliot Lake: the Spooky Map, voting forms, and our social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter).
