Request for Single Athlete to Train Outside of BC

Gymnastics BC registered competitive athletes wishing to participate in short-term training activities outside of BC, that are not associated with a sanctioned event or program shall make application to GymBC for permission to train in the alternative location using this form. Approval of such requests will be dependent on GymBC's confirmation that the training location and/or club facility is affiliated with, and in good standing with, its provincial/territorial/national gymnastics federation/association.

This form must be completed by an adult (18 years or older). This could be the athlete, a parent/guardian, a coach, or a club representative.

Please be advised

An athlete intending to train at a club outside of Canada (including the USA), without a GymBC-registered member coach accompanying them (and thereby coaching the athlete), will not receive approval and is not required to submit a request form. It is important for the athlete and/or their family to understand that in this situation, the athlete will not be covered by GymBC's insurance policies. Therefore, GymBC highly recommends that external insurance is obtained for the athlete.

In making this request to train outside of BC, the athlete agrees to abide by the rules and regulations of GymBC, GymCan and FIG’s guidelines and policies. The athlete listed on this application must be registered with GymBC and if this request is approved, will be provided with GymBC insurance coverage during the course of the approved training while on the field of play. Coverage does NOT extend to incidents that may occur off the field of play, or during non-training activities such as social events or travel to and from the facility.

Note: GymBC's accident insurance policy does NOT provide travel medical insurance coverage. All GymBC members that travel to participate in gymnastics activities are encouraged to obtain their own medical insurance coverage before embarking on any journey.
