It's that time of year again, a new fencing season is just around the corner! All of the information you need to get started this season has been updated at epicfencing.ca and set up on our new registration system. See below for quick links to find all the information you need:

• Registration page
  • We are using a new system this year so you'll need to make an account. 
• Intro to Fencing Programs
  • Best for fencers who have not done a week of camp or a previous Intro program
• Schedules by age and weapon
• Memberships by age
  • We have Class Memberships and Package Memberships
    • Class Memberships include Weekly Group Classes and Bouting. This year we've added a gift of 3 Private Lessons to be used before June 26th, 2026!
    • Package memberships include Group Classes, Bouting, Private Lessons, and (for some) Cross Training at a Discounted Rate
  • Note: we have a special Teen Active for Life membership for fencers 12 and older that are looking to fence once per week casually. Let's keep our fencers Active for Life!
• Package Memberships by age
  • These memberships are best for fencers looking to take regular private lessons and support their training with Strength & Conditioning (Cross Training). More commitment = higher discounts

A) Steps to register for 2025-26 Membership:

2. Click on “Sign Up” on the left-hand side
   1. Schedules are also available under 'Calendar' and you can filter by age/weapon
   2. Lesson booking is under 'Make an Appointment'
3. From the Drop-Down Menu, choose the age group Membership category
   1. Note: This season, Package Memberships are monthly or bi-monthly (e.g. Payments September, November, January, etc.)
4. Select 'Sign-up' by the Program that you’ve chosen
5. Create an account and Register!
   1. Contact info@epicfencing.ca for the family discount code if applicable (it will not apply automatically)

B) Community Involvement in 2025-26

• As you may know the Epic Fencing Club is a not for profit, volunteer run society. 
• We are preparing a new Volunteer Plan for 2025-26, with the intent of supporting our community culture and rewarding those who have contributed the most in a fair and effective way. Stay tuned for more details
• There are lots of opportunities to volunteer early in the season. One of the biggest and best fundraising opportunities for Epic is fast approaching!  The Epic Casino will be taking place Tuesday Sept 16 and Wednesday Sept 17, 2025 at Pure Casino Calgary (1420 Meridian Rd NE)

  • The success of this casino is critical to the financial health of the club and member participation in volunteering to run this casino is therefore just as critical. 
  • Previous experience is not necessary and there are numerous and varied roles for volunteers to fill. 
• We would like to get more members involved in committees such as: Tournament Committee, Marketing Committee, Fundraising Committee, Membership committee, Facility Committee, etc.

3. Summer Training Camps 

• Why: Training camps provide a focused environment for fencers to develop their skills and accrue a high volume of quality training. This increases their engagement and prepares the body and mind for the upcoming season. 
  • Strongly encouraged for competitive fencers.
  • A great experience for fencers that love fencing! 
• Who: Intermediate to Advanced Foil & Epee Fencers
  • Fencers will be grouped by age and experience level
  • Fencers as young as 8 can participate
  • Fencers with a minimum of 6 months experience can participate
• When: 
  • Aug 18-22 & Aug 25-29
  • 9am-4pm
  • Morning-Only & Drop-in Option Available
• Payment & Registration:

  • Double camp discount: 20% discount if you register for both camps at the same time
  • Family discount: 10% per member

4. 2025-26 Tournaments

Upcoming Dates to Save:

• Sept 13-14th, Fence-O-Mania
• Oct 11-12th, AB Cup #1, Epic Fall Classic
• Nov 1st, Donut Tournament
• Nov 8-9th, AB Cup #2, Leduc, AB
• Prior to Nov 25th: Alberta Winter Games Qualifier - we need high Epic participation to support our athletes!
• Dec 13th or 20th, Donut Tournament & Holiday Party

5. Alberta Fencing (AFA) Membership

• All Epic fencers should have, at the very least, an Associate Membership with the AFA($20).
• Those competing at Alberta tournaments should have a Competitive Membership
• Those competing in the USA will need a USFA Membership
