2022 BC Winter Games Participant List Although the 2022 BC Winter Games was regrettably cancelled, Gymnastics BC would like to recognize the athletes, coaches and judges that composed our 2022 team. The countless hours of hard work, dedication and perseverance it takes to reach the Games is something that each individual should be extremely proud of. Qualified athletes are invited to participate in a hybrid session at the Langley Gymnastics Christy Fraser Memorial Invitational. Public Access Program Reporting This is a reminder for clubs that offer Public Access Programming, which includes birthday parties, field trips, and one-time (non-member) visitors, to submit your report to GymBC. You may do this every 1, 2, or 3 months depending on your reporting preference. The form is available online by clicking on the button below.
You will receive an emailed copy of your submission, along with an invoice which you should use to submit payment to GymBC. You can send e-transfers to accounting@gymbc.org or mail your cheque to the GymBC office (268-828 West 8th Avenue | Vancouver, BC | V5Z 1E2). 2022 viaSport Coach of the Year Awards Each year, viaSport recognizes three incredible B.C. coaches for their hard work, passion and dedication to sport and their athletes. After a tough year with many challenges and successes, we are looking back on the crucial role that coaches have played to keep sport going. If your coach or a coach in your community has gone above and beyond and inspired a love for sport in those around them, they deserve recognition. Retaining Girls in Sport and Physical Activity Girls and women face more barriers to accessing sport opportunities, which is why retaining their participation is critical. In partnership with Canadian Women & Sport, viaSport will host a lab session on February 8 from 10-1130am, where attendees will learn about how their sport programs can best support girls and increase the chance that they will continue participating and thriving through sport. Attendees will learn how holistically designed sport programs that take into account girls psycho-social needs can increase their participation and retention in sport. Advanced Coaching Opportunities CAC and UBC have two advanced coaching and education opportunities coming up. 1) NCCP Advanced Coaching Diploma (ACD): The NCCP ACD is the most extensive multi-sport training program offered by the NCCP in Canada. Coaches holding an NCCP ACD are recognized as among the most qualified coaches and leaders of Canadian athletes and sport programs to compete at provincial, national, and international levels. There is a March intake taking place in Calgary (application deadline Jan. 31), and September intake in Ontario (application deadline June 30). For more information, including registration and fees, visit the CAC website here. 2) UBC Master of High Performance Coaching and Technical Leadership: The UBC Master of High Performance Coaching and Technical Leadership (MHPCTL) is a three-year, 30-credit specialized program for experienced sport coaches and technical leaders who are looking to advance their careers. The program is composed of a one-year graduate certificate (HPCTL), followed by two years of graduate course work for the Master’s degree (MHPCTL). Dates and locations for Westerns and Western Canada Cup are finalized, but GymCan is yet to set a date and location for Canadian Championships. Application Deadline: before February 28, 2022.
