Government Funding Program Information The government announced the end of the CEWS and CERS programs in October 2021 and indicated that there would be two new programs to assist specific organizations that continue to be negatively impacted by the pandemic. The “Hardest-Hit Business Recovery Program” (HHBRP) provides wage and rent subsidies to any businesses and organizations that: - have a 12-month average revenue drop from March 2020 to February 2021 of at least 50%; and
- have a claim period revenue decline of at least 50%.
The “Tourism and Hospitality Recovery Program” (THRP) provides wage and rent subsidies to organizations that are part of the tourism, hospitality, arts, entertainment, or recreation sectors if the organization: - has a 12-month average revenue drop from March 2020 to February 2021 of at least 40%; and
- has a claim period revenue decline of at least 40%.
The types of organizations that are eligible for the THRP are listed here, but of note is that the list includes those organizations that are “operating or managing a facility or providing services that enable patrons to participate in recreational activities, including other amusement activities, such as amateur sports clubs, teams or leagues, archery or shooting, ballroom dancing, river rafting, curling clubs, mini golf and bowling” and also includes those organizations that are “promoting the interests of the members of an industry organization or association, if the members are primarily engaged in activities described above.” We encourage you to refer to the links provided to see if your club qualifies for relief.
