Canucks Autism Network (CAN) Sports Day - Coaches Needed! The Canucks Autism Network (CAN) holds an annual "Sports Day" to welcome families living with autism to try new sports and meet professional players, alumni and mascots from Vancouver Canucks, BC Lions, Vancouver Canadians, Vancouver Warriors and Vancouver Whitecaps FC. GymBC is honored to be invited to participate in the 2022 event! The event will take place at BC Place on Sunday June 5th, from 1-4pm. Each of the 9 Provincial Sport Organizations present will be given an area to run 3-4 activities. CAN will provide one senior Support Worker and one On-site Supervisor (their most experienced program staff) to work with us and provide behavioral support for participants as needed. Additional staff (up to 8-10 total) can also be made available. Gymnastics BC is looking for 5-8 coaches to lead our section of this fun event. Interested individuals must be a minimum of GF certified. Experience with adaptive/inclusive programming is an asset, but not mandatory, as CAN training will be provided to all coaches and staff. Interested coaches are asked to please contact me via email (kurquhart@gymbc.org) by noon on Friday, January 21.

2022 BC Winter Games Cancelled On January 14, the BC Games Society and the Greater Vernon 2022 BC Winter Games Society announced the cancellation of the 2022 BC Winter Games. Event organizers and stakeholders will explore options to see if the region can deliver this multisport event in the future, possibly in 2023. GymBC recognizes all of the athletes, coaches, and volunteers that have put so much time and effort into preparing for the BC Winter Games. We acknowledge that this was an incredibly difficult decision for the event organizers to make, and that it was not one made lightly. The full press release can be accessed by clicking on the button below. Questions can be directed to: cormerod@gymbc.org
