RE: Updated Safe Sport Policies

We heard you loud and clear during our recent Town Halls! Since then, we have been hard at work revising our Safe Sport Policies, ensuring alignment with Sask Sport while making them clearer, simpler, and easier for coaches and clubs to maintain.

These updates have now been incorporated into our Policy Guide, which was shared with clubs last month, and is also available on our website at https://www.gymsask.com/policydocs.

We are pleased to share that our updated Safe Sport Policies are now live, featuring the following key updates to our screening policy:

Screening Matrix Updates:

  • Level 1 – Case Managers, Coaches, Managers, Staff traveling with athletes, and Staff/Board with financial or signing authority
    • Vulnerable Sector Check — ONCE only
    • Screening Disclosure Form + Regular Police Check — every 3 years
    • Screening Renewal Form — every year (in off-years)
  • Level 2 – Adult Athletes, Training Staff, Coaches under supervision, Officials
    • Screening Disclosure Form + Regular Police Check — every 3 years
    • Screening Renewal Form — every year (in off-years)
  • Level 3 – Volunteers and Informal Members
    • Screening Disclosure Form — every year (no police check)

In the coming months, we will also be rolling out new resource materials and educational opportunities to help everyone understand and apply these policies with confidence.

Thank you for continuing to foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for gymnastics in Saskatchewan!
