FAQs

How does my child join Troupe or Foireann Cavan?

Troupe and Foireann Cavan will not appear on the registration form. Dancers joining these teams must do so by attending a Reverse Audition, which will take place on Sunday, August 24 at 1:00 PM. The Reverse Audition consists of a short dance class followed by a family meeting, during which the team commitment and requirements are explained.

What are the Production and Feis Prep classes?

Two new class options this year are Production and Feis Prep. Each is offered for Fall and Spring sessions. These classes are designed to provide additional opportunities for our dancers to prepare for performance and competition. Any dancer at the Advanced Lions, Emeralds, and Crowns levels may enroll in these classes - they are not limited to Troupe or Foireann Cavan members.

Production is a great option for dancers who are not able to commit to Troupe but would still like to participate in an extra dance at the Winter Showcase or Spring Dinner Dance. Troupe members are also encouraged to take this class.

Feis Prep is an opportunity for dancers who are not able to commit to Foireann Cavan but would still like to participate in competitions. This class is included for Foireann Cavan members.

How do I determine the number of classes to select on the registration form?

For the purposes of determining tuition, each session of Production and Feis Prep counts as ½ class, and Troupe and Foireann Cavan count as 1 class each. Core classes count as 1 class each. If your student is taking Production or Feis Prep for only the fall or the spring, please contact Jennie for tuition adjustment.

Example 1: The student registering for the classes below should select the 3+ classes/week tuition level.

  • 1 Advanced Lions class (1)
  • Fall Production (1/2)
  • Spring Feis Prep (1/2)
  • Troupe (1)

Example 2: The student registering for the classes below should select the 2 classes/week tuition level and contact Jennie for tuition adjustment.

  • 1 Emeralds class (1)
  • Fall Feis Prep (1/2)
How does my child join the music program?

We welcome anyone with at least 1-2 years of experience playing an instrument to join our music program. Gaellica is our Irish music ensemble, made up of so much more than fiddles - we have musicians who play cello, percussion, guitar, and flute, and welcome any instrument. The Basics of Traditional Irish Music class is designed to support musicians in Gaellica or who are preparing to join Gaellica by providing basic instruction related to the Gaellica repertoire. The music program is discounted for students who are also enrolled in the dance program, and the Basics class is included at no additional cost for Gaellica members.
