Thank you for your interest in the swimming lessons at Sporthèque!
To help you find the swimming course that best matches your level, we invite you to follow the steps below:
A fun and bonding moment to discover water as a family! Through games, songs, and stimulating activities, little ones explore the joy of moving in the water.
The initial levels encourage familiarity with the aquatic environment, splash games, and first movements with assistance. As they grow, children develop their independence, learn to float, move with equipment, and swim short distances always under parental supervision in the water.
We do not recommend swimming lessons for children under 6 months old.
The age for classes is approximate; we are aware that children do not all develop at the same pace.
Parent and Me 1 and 2 Combined (35 min) ➡️ Age: 6 to 24 months ➡️ Prerequisite: None This class allows toddlers to explore the aquatic world with a parent. They are introduced to movements in the water, learn to wet their faces and develop their comfort in an aquatic environment.
Parent and Me 3 (35 min) ➡️ Age: 2 to 4 years ➡️ Prerequisite: Successful completion of Parent and Me levels 1-2 combined or following the appropriate age groupHere we encourage the child to move with extended leg kicks, to float with light support from the parent and to swim with their floating aids over a distance of 2 meters.
Parent and Me 4 (35 min) ➡️ Age: 3 to 5 years ➡️ Prerequisite: Successful completion of Parent and Me 3 or following the age groupThe child progresses by moving independently with a board and its accessories, adopting a front and back floating position, and swimming without parental assistance over a distance of 5 meters.
An aquatic adventure filled with games, laughter, and discoveries! Designed for independent children without their parents, these classes offer a gentle progression through fun activities that boost confidence, coordination, and independence in the water. From the first immersion to refining swimming skills like freestyle or back floating, each level is a step towards the joy of swimming... like a fish in water!
Seahorse (30 min)
➡️ Age: 3 years to under 6 years
➡️ Prerequisite: Successful completion of Parent and Me level 3 or equivalent Children discover water at their own pace in a safe and playful environment. They learn to enter the water, wet their faces, make bubbles, and become familiar with positions on their stomachs and backs with the help of our instructors. Games and activities promote their confidence and motor skills, such as moving with floatation devices or retrieving objects underwater. Each activity is designed to enhance the enjoyment and independence of young swimmers.
Snail (30 min) ➡️ Prerequisite: Successful completion of the criteria for the Sea Horse level or Parent and Me 4 level or equivalent Children learn to follow safety instructions and to enter the pool independently. They have fun discovering the joys of water: making bubbles, wetting their ears, and floating on their stomachs or backs with small floaties. They gradually develop their autonomy by moving several meters and kicking with support. They also get introduced to the "rocket" position to experience swimming movements in a playful way.
Tadpole (30 min) ➡️ Prerequisite: Success in the Snail level criteria or equivalent Children remove floaties and begin to swim 3 meters unassisted. They engage in playful exercises such as belly and back slides, blowing bubbles underwater, and holding the star position without assistance. Gradually, they move with a small floatation device, kick their legs and perform the rocket position over several meters, thereby enhancing their independence, safety and enjoyment of swimming.
Frog (35 min) ➡️ Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Tadpole level criteria or equivalent Children develop their endurance and independence in the water. They learn to swim 6 meters without assistance, perform kicks on their stomach and back, and exhale underwater. They open their eyes underwater, execute jumps and master the star position on their stomach and back. They enhance their coordination by swimming in place, searching for an object underwater and swimming several meters while focusing on their independence and enjoyment of swimming.
Goldfish (35 min) ➡️ Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Frog level criteria or equivalent Children learn to respect pool rules and to enter and exit the water independently, enhancing their autonomy. They perform exercises to improve their coordination, such as blowing bubbles underwater, treading water in place, and doing leg kicks on their stomach and back (15 meters each). They also refine their propulsion skills with glides and side rolls. This level introduces the basics of freestyle and rolling over, allowing children to develop a smooth and independent swim over 10 meters.
Whale (35 min) ➡️ Prerequisite: Successful completion of the Goldfish level criteria or equivalent Children develop their independence with breathing and coordination exercises, such as swimming 2 meters underwater through a hoop and maintaining buoyancy and turning without assistance for 10 seconds. They also learn to swim freestyle for 15 meters, perform leg kicks on their stomach and back (20 meters each), and refine their propulsion with rocket exercises (stomach, side, and back). Children also complete 10 meters of backstroke followed by 10 meters of front crawl, thereby strengthening their control of movements in the water.
⭐ Private lessons (junior) — 4 to 12 years old
➡️ Duration: 30 or 45 minutes ➡️ Prerequisite: None (must be of age)The child progresses alone with their instructor, according to their pace and needs. Ideal for children requiring more attention, having fears, or preferring individualized learning.
Courses designed to learn how to swim while having fun! Through playful challenges, varied courses, and techniques adapted to each level, young swimmers develop their confidence, endurance, and mastery of swimming styles. From the first 10 meters to 500 meters continuously, each step promotes safety, autonomy, and enjoyment in the water. Advanced levels also offer an introduction to rescue and training, allowing for further progress while keeping a smile!
