✨MAG News✨

The MAG program is in full swing as we wrap up summer!

Coaches Colin Plomp (Spruce Grove Aerials) and Daniel Krawchenko (South Edmonton Gymnastique), along with seven of our Novice athletes are currently attending the MAG Elite Training Camp at Canadian Adventure Camp, located in the beautiful island setting of Temagami, Ontario.

A big thank you to Gymnastics Ontario for hosting and inviting our team to this incredible experience.👏

The 2025–2026 MAG program calendar has been finalized and shared with club representatives—it's shaping up to be a packed and exciting year. 🗓️ Be sure to stay up-to-date with all AGF events by checking the calendar regularly!

Meanwhile, preparations are underway for Congress and our AGM weekend, where we look forward to welcoming Nick Blanton (Fundy Gymnastics) back as our guest presenter. He’ll also be joining us at the Canada Winter Games training camp being held just prior.

We hope to see all of our MAG community at Congress, AGM, and Gala Week!  🙌

✨WAG News✨

Your WAG team is hard at work in the office, preparing for Congress. We are welcoming several speakers to educate on a wide variety of topics! 🧐

Already confirmed are Kelly Simm and Claudia Fragapane of Team GB🦁, who will share their technical knowledge, Olympic experiences, and life skills.

We are also pleased to welcome presentations from Janette Harty (mental health coach), and Darren Webster (AGF's very own Technical Director.) There are more to come and we hope to see you there!

Also, registrations for next month's Level 8-10/HP camp at Exelta, and October's Level 6-7 camp at Spruce Grove have been flying. 👏 Are you thinking of attending but haven't signed up yet? Don't delay as spaces are filling fast.

A reminder to club admins: all athletes and coaches must be registered and insured AGF members to attend these camps. So make sure everyone is properly loaded into Uplifter.

Visit the AGF calendar of events for more details on upcoming events. 🗓️

✨Sport Dev News✨

Last weekend, 45 coaches from around Alberta gathered in Pine Valley for the GFA Getaway.

It was a weekend full of education and engagement with our guest presenter, Tony Clarno, and special guest lectures from our Sport Development Committee members! 🤩

We had 16 workshops designed to enhance, inspire, and further the coaches' gymnastics professional skills. Then we enjoyed some fun nights with amazing food, campfires, and country walks. 🙌

Right now, two of our committee members are in Québec attending the FIG Age Group Parkour Camp! They are learning from two world-class mentors: Charles Perrière (co-founder of Parkour, Yamakasi member, and President of the FIG Parkour Technical Committee); and Stéphane Girondeaud (seasoned free-runner, coach at Culture Parkour and French FreeRun Academy, and expert FIG trainer).

We are looking forward to them bringing this information back to Alberta and enhancing our growing Parkour community! 💪

This year’s Congress features an incredible line-up of presenters. With 40+ sessions to choose from, as well as an amazing day of in-gym experience (GFA featuring Ali Stoffels), it’s an event not to be missed! 🤩

GymCan Press Release

✨TG News✨

We want to give a huge congratulations to our very own Team Alberta athlete, Cody Cyman, for winning the silver medal 🥈 alongside his teammate, Étienne Cloutier at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games in Asunción, Paraguay!

Their combined score of 48.11 put Team Canada just 3.02 points behind the United States - way to go! 🍁👏

Cody also qualified for the individual trampoline finals and narrowly missed the podium, placing 4th with 55.31. Congratulations on a great effort, Cody! We are so proud of you! 🙌

As GymCan notes in their official press release, the event marked an excellent showing for Canada’s U21 junior athletes, who gained valuable international competition experience on the road to future success. 🤩

It’s already the end of August! 🌞📚🤸‍♂️ Schools are opening their doors, lunches are being packed, people are buying their textbooks, and our clubs are starting their fall programming.

This season, we are thrilled to have 74 member gyms, spread across the province, in our AGF community and all offering many levels of training. If you are interested in trying gymnastics, I welcome you to check out our website to find a club that suits your needs.

Also Sunday marks the end of our first registration session, which covers July and August. Clubs, please make sure to get your athlete and coach registrations submitted by Sept 26th to ensure all of your members are properly insured!

Finally, I want to give a shout-out to the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, who hosted the CEBL Commissioner’s Luncheon last week. I attended on behalf of AGF and learned a lot about brand development, sponsor engagement, and fan activation. It was a fascinating panel and an amazing weekend for Canadian basketball 🏀🍁.

I’m still heartbroken that my Calgary Surge lost the championship game but it was still a trip I will never forget.

Enjoy the heat wave, everyone! 🥵

August - What is your favorite season of the year and why? ☀️🥶🍀☔️🍁🏖️❄️🎃

Mo - Summer ☀️ I have so many good summer memories with friends and family; and I must mention the sun that gives me life. ❤️

Craig - I love big parka weather and walking around in huge snow drifts, then going out for a giant hot latté. So the dark and cold of winter is for me! ☃️🧥😊

Kate - Summer! Give me a beach, sunshine and shorts any day of the week 🏝️🩳

Jacinda - I enjoy being outside, paddle boarding and biking, so summer is up there but Fall has always been my favourite time of year. I really miss Fall on the East Coast - maple trees, Halloween, etc. Halloween is also my fav holiday, so Fall wins. 🍁☀️🚴‍♀️

Carolyn - Definitely summer. I love being outside in the sun, visiting beaches or going camping. ☀️⛱️🏕️

Haleigh - Fall is absolutely my favourite, hands down! Nothing beats cool, breezy days, thick fuzzy sweaters, boots, pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking, pumpkin patching, scary movies, moody weather, and of course the bright, beautiful leaves! 🍁🎃🍂👻 I make it a point to make the season my entire personality every year 😉

Jacqueline - Fall and spring, fall because of the colours and spring because of all the green starting. 🍁🌿☀️

Robin - I love the Fall! Cozy sweater days, vibrant leaves, and all the fun school supplies popping up everywhere!! 📝🍂🍁
