- Remember - any club planning to travel outside of Canada requires a Travel Authorization Form, which is required for all activities. Learn more on our website. Without approval, insurance coverage WILL NOT be provided.

✨MAG News✨Things are ramping up as we get ready for the 2025/26 season! Mo – our MAG Program Manager has been busy putting the final touches on the Technical Handbooks and helping our judges get set up with registrations, calendars, and all of the paperwork needed for a smooth start. She is also deep into prep for next month's Men’s Technical Assembly (MTA) and AGM. Final agendas, annual reviews, and motions are all coming together. 🙌 Meetings start bright and early on Saturday, October 18th, so grab a coffee, and we'll see you there. Quick reminder: if your MAG club wants to have a vote at the MTA, delegate registration is due by Sunday, September 28! 🗓️ In other exciting news, we’ve officially locked in our MAG award recipients! Any guesses as to who they are? ✨Sport Dev News✨You Need to Calm Down because Gymfest 2026 Eras has been confirmed! 🪩 We're all set to welcome our teams to the University of Calgary’s Red & Gold Gyms from May 1st-3rd, 2026. Stay tuned for accommodation and other information coming soon. 👏 A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes out to LIGHT Acrobatic’s trio: Bella Goetz, Josie Shelstad, Hannah Gertzen, as well as coach Robert Light for qualifying for the 2025 Pan American Championships as Team Canada! Let's all cheer them on. 🤩 Mark your calendars: coming off an amazing and successful 2025 GFA Getaway, we are thrilled to announce that Pine Valley will once again be the host of our 2026 event! It will be a great weekend of education, team building, and fun. The event is limited to 65 participants, so make sure to let your gym know of your interest! 🗓️ Getaway 2026 will be held from August 21st-23rd. Programming note: GFA Collective will resume this November. After a refreshing summer break, we are eager to welcome new and returning members to this lunchtime educational format. ✨TG News✨Let's hear it for Sara Moore and Claire Jackson of Phoenix Gymnastics, who will be travelling to Antibes, France next weekend for the next FIG World Cup event. Sara and Claire, alongside Coach Trish Quinney will be a part of Team Canada's senior tumbling team. Qualification starts next Friday. Bonne chance! 🍁🇫🇷 Earlier this month Gymnastics Canada announced the dates and locations for the 2026 Elite Canada events. While our MAG and WAG teams get set to compete at home this coming February at the BMO Centre in Calgary, our trampoline gymnastics teams are pumped to travel to Markham, ON for their events from March 11th-15th, 2026! The incredible Markham Pan Am Centre hosted intense competitions during the 2015 Pan and Parapan American games and was the site of Artistic Elite last year to rave reviews. It's going to be a great event and our TG teams are already getting ready to qualify and compete. 👍 Finally, we have several AGF judges getting ready for the FIG exams next month on October 18th. Today is the deadline for all session one registrations! Clubs, if you haven’t done so already, please log into AGF’s Uplifter and complete your uploads. Then you can enjoy a nice pumpkin spice latte and prep for the weekend. 🎃☕️ I know some of our gyms have new staff, so if you would like a refresher on the registration process, I invite you to visit our website for step-by-step instructions. Also, feel free to contact my office for assistance, and I will be happy to help! Remember, athletes and coaches that aren’t properly registered cannot attend camps or competitions. Also, they are training without insurance which could be disastrous if they are injured. In other news, two new funding grants have recently come across my desk; 😃💰💵 both designed to help grow and strengthen communities across our province. I encourage clubs to check them out and see if they can qualify for special program monies. Field Law Community Fund Program Makadiff Sports Grassroots Community Sport Grant Make sure to keep an eye on our fundraising page as we continue to post all open grants applications. Finally, I plan on representing AGF next month during the CPA Alberta Connect Tour in Calgary. Craig - The absolute best movie I’ve seen so far, this summer, was The Life of Chuck 💙😊🌌👍. It really touched my soul and is probably the best movie about the end of the universe, ever! You really need to watch it right to the very end, then let it all sink in. Kate - We have been re-watching oldies with our oldest lately, with the most recent one being Eurovision Song Contest. Having lived in Europe and experiencing the Eurovision craze, it’s definitely a fun one to watch! 🎬 Jacinda - It's spooky season so I’ve been watching all the Conjuring & Insidious movies and looking forward to the new Conjuring! 👻🎈💀 Overall, Into the Wild is a must read (Jon Krakauer), must see (Sean Penn). 🚋 Carolyn - I haven’t watched a non-kid movie in way too long so my recommendation is for kids. Harold and the Purple Crayon! 🖍️🧑🧑🧒 Haleigh - I’ll second Jacinda’s comment. I always want to re-watch paranormal movies this time of year. I just re-watched the first Insidious movie the other night to start! Also, I recently watched Barbarian and Smile, both of which were equally disturbing yet captivating. 👻😱 Mo - With Halloween coming up Coco is always a sweet option 😊 Robin - Lately I’ve been watching more documentaries than films but when I do get the chance to sit down for a movie, I tend to lean towards a good psychological thriller, crime or mystery—especially one with a twist ending! The Usual Suspects is my all-time favourite. I also can’t resist a solid mob movie—Goodfellas is right up there, too. They may not be new, but if you haven’t seen them, they’re definitely worth it. And of course, you can never go wrong with a light-hearted classic like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off! 🍿 Jacqueline - I do enjoy scary movies, and there are too many to list. 👻 |
