It is with a heavy heart that AGF shares the news that our former Chairperson and Lifetime Member, Brett MacAulay recently passed away after his battle with ALS.

Brett was a fixture in AGF and especially the TG world for many years, He was quite instrumental in the development of the sport in our Province and throughout Canada.  He was the loveliest, most genuine man, and he will be dearly missed by many.

If you are interested in learning more about Brett’s life, please check out his Lifetime Achievement Award video.

It is a true testament to Brett’s enduring legacy.

Our thoughts are kindly with the family, friends, and all those who felt the loving presence of Brett during this time of grieving.

Hanna, Bella, and Josie won the silver medal in youth women's groups as well as two bronze medals in the group dynamic and group balance finals. Way to go! 🤩

And a big congrats to their coach, Robert Light, for helping them achieve this awesome milestone. 👏

Did you know that we are still in LIGHT Acrobatic's first year of operation?!

We love it when we get to grow our Sport Development family.

In other news, the GFA Collective has kicked off, and we had a great lunch-time discussion about Gymnaestrada and performance gymnastics.

Are you interested in participating and giving a voice to topics in the rec world? Our next meeting is Dec 2. Don't delay!

Join the collective here! 🙌

✨TG News✨

November was an intense month of competition with the final FIG meets of 2025.

Pamplona, Spain was the host of the 38th TG World Champioinships, 2nd Junior World Championships, and 31st World Age Group Competitions; and Canada sent a delegation of 70 trampoline and tumbling athletes to rep the Maple Leaf! 🍁🐂💪🏅

We are so proud to note that 18 members of Team Canada were from Alberta clubs, including:

  • Altadore Gymnastics Club
  • Calgary Gymnastics Centre
  • Pegasus Gymnastics
  • Thunder Country Trampoline
  • Phoenix Gymnastic Centre

That's so amazing!! We know you all had a great time competing and gave it your all.

Let's also give the highest of fives to Jeremy Meyer of CGC for taking the DMT Gold in Age Group 3. Way to go, Jeremy!! 👊🥇

✨MAG News✨

Have you heard?

For the first time AGF is offering a Select Camp for athletes who achieved the Alberta Standard scores last season!

This is a new style of training camp, with a focus on C or higher valued skills, that will take place at the Calgary Gymnastics Centre from December 17th-18th.

Also at CGC will be a P1/2 camp, a P3+ camp, and an Elite Screening Event for High Performance MAG athletes.

At the screening event, the athletes will have the opportunity to hit the scores needed to compete here at home, during 2026 Elite Canada in downtown Calgary! 🍁🤠

Registration is open, and we cannot wait to see all of your progress.

Do you need more information? Get in touch with Mo Oliver, our MAG manager, at MAG@abgym.ab.ca.

We've already hosted some great camps so far! Thank you to all of those organizers and to all participants for your energy and dedication.

We are continuing to build upon the momentum from our successful MTA meeting last month.

We are excited to see all our athletes in action in the upcoming competitive season! 💪

✨WAG News✨

This year we hosted AGF's first ever Provincial Squad camp!

Your WAG team allocated a portion of its Legacy Funding towards hosting this new camp for the highest ranked Level 4 and 5 athletes from Compulsory Championships, who were invited to join the provincial squad.

This group got together at Airdrie Edge earlier this month and worked on more advanced skills with some of our top coaches. You all looked great out there! 👏

Thanks to AGF's ongoing Legacy savings, we plan to keep on investing in our athletes' excellence. 🤩

It was a tremendous fall season for WAG. Thank you so much to the expert coaches from across Alberta (and beyond) for presenting to over 800+ of our athletes and for participating in our round-table discussions; and thank you to the clubs who hosted them.

And welcome to our newly certified judges!

The final event before the holidays is Trials to Alberta Winter Games at Pine Valley Gymnastics on December 13th and 14th. Good luck to everyone competing! ✨

Lastly, let's give a huge shout-out to Aila McKinley of YEG Gymnastics who was the top Canadian at the 3rd Junior World Championships in Manila, Philippines 🇵🇭🍁 You rock, Aila!

It's that time of the year where the days are getting shorter, the nights are getting colder, and the holidays approach. Here, the AGF program staff are finishing up their training camps, finalizing prep, and getting ready for upcoming competitions.

However, for many of us in Finance, when the calendar changes to December, it serves as a reminder that it is tax filing season! If your club is like AGF and has a fiscal year-end of June 30th, then the six month deadline to file corporate tax returns is upon us. 🧮📎📚🙃

So, if you haven't already done so, make sure to complete your filings with the Canada Revenue Agency as soon as you can. Then you can have peace of mind as you turn your attentions to the other distractions of the season!

AGF also recently completed its second registration session of the season, and I'm happy to report that there are currently over 34,200 members across Alberta participating in gymnastics. This is slightly down from last year, which included an amazing Olympic Games, but it is a 2.5% increase from the year before.

Of course, we want as many people trying our sport as possible, so get out there and continue to spread the gymnastics joy during the holidays!

Stay warm out there 🤸‍♂️⛄️😎

What's a piece or type of entertainment you've been obsessed with recently? 🎥🎶🕹️⛷️

Craig - Right now, I literally cannot stop watching reels and memes using the intro from Peacemaker 😂🕊️🕺🎶🦅

Kate - With this phase of life, I’m into nightly audio books and podcasts. It’s been a slew of non-fiction and autobiographies to expand my horizons and learn new things. 📖🎧

Haleigh - I've really been getting back into Animal Crossing since Nintendo announced a new update coming next year! 🦝 For TV, I've been loving The Chair Company and Smiling Friends. I've also been on a re-watch of all the Spider-Man movies! 😆🕷️

Carolyn - I am really getting back into reading. At the end of the day it's great to relax with a blanket and a couple chapters of a great book. 📖😌

Mo - Music is always my go-to form of media and entertainment. I love how it covers so many bases—the art of the lyricist, the composition of sounds, and the way it can connect to different moods. 🎶🎧

Robin - Like Mo, I almost always have music on—every genre for every mood! I’m also a big fan of a good podcast, so if you have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them. And with the snow about to fall, there’s nothing better than a great binge-worthy series or documentary to enjoy while snuggled up under a cozy blanket.
