Holiday Office Closure The GymBC office will be closed from December 23, 2025 until January 5, 2026. Some staff will be working remotely during this period; however, no staff will be working on December 24–26 or January 1, and the physical office will remain closed throughout. The last Mat Matters of the year will be issued on December 18, 2025, and will resume on January 8, 2026. We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and we are excited to see what 2026 brings!

FIG Rebrands to World Gymnastics FIG (Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique) officially launched their rebrand. The entity formerly known as FIG is now called World Gymnastics! In their own words: "World Gymnastics - a new brand for the future of global gymnastics. This new identity celebrates everything that makes our sport unique - creativity, strength, diversity, and the power of movement. From Artistic to Rhythmic, Trampoline & Tumbling, Acrobatics, Aerobics, Parkour and Gymnastics for All, the new brand unites all our disciplines under one global vision."

2026 TG High-Performance Prep Camp GymBC is hosting a 2026 TG High-Performance Competition Prep Camp at TAG Sports Centre on January 18, 2026! This camp is open to eligible athletes and coaches and will support preparation for the upcoming competitive season. Registration is now open on the Events Calendar!

Team BC LEAD Trials Good luck to those participating in the Team BC LEAD trials tomorrow! This year's Team BC LEAD team will be traveling to Gymnastics Rocks the Rockies, in Calgary, AB, January 22-25, 2026! An official announcement will be released by GymBC next week!

2027 World Gymnaestrada Intent of interest for the 2027 World Gymnaestrada FIG Gala has opened (fast turnaround) Please note: Teams wishing to apply for the FIG Gala must have successfully performed in a WG FIG Gala or WG National Performance within the last two cycles. If your team is interested, please email gfa@gymbc.org by 11:00 a.m. PST, tomorrow, December 12, 2025. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of experts and, if successful, approved by the GymCan Sport Development Council. Selected teams will sent the FIG Gala application form which is due mid-January.

Interclub Training Camp The Interclub Training Camp is a new initiative designed to elevate the quality and strengthen the sense of community of Interclub programs in the province. This weekend event (lasting one to two days, depending on registration) will provide an opportunity for coaches, athletes, and program leaders to come together, share ideas, and enhance their skills. GymBC is currently seeking a host club for this pilot camp. If your club is interested in hosting, please complete the application form below.

Revised - GymCan Active Start and Fundamentals GymCan has revised the Active Start & Fundamentals Program to better support coaches and clubs in delivering high-quality, foundational gymnastics. This updated program introduces children ages 0-9 to the seven Fundamental Movement Patterns (FMPs) and allows coaches to adapt delivery, facility setup, and equipment to suit participants’ needs.
