When do we get paid?
You receive your pay stub before the 9th day of the next month and the money will then be deposited between the 9th and 15th day of that month.
For example, you coached for a total of 10 hours in the month of November. You will receive your pay stub for the hours completed and how much money you will make before December 9th and the money will be deposited in your bank account between December 9th and 15th.
How long is the training for a new coach?
New coaches have 6 shifts where they will watch short training videos before arriving to class. You will also be evaluated and provided with feedback by a team leader at the end of your shifts.
Once you have completed those 6 shifts and passed the evaluations with success, you are officially a Sportball Coach and will receive a coach jersey and whistle.
How much is a coach in training paid?
A coach in training is paid $18.00 per hour.
Once you have completed your first 6 shifts, you are officially a Sportball Coach and you begin to get paid $20.00 per hour.
What is the minimum time frame we need to advise Sportball of our unavailabilities?
Coaches MUST advise us at least ONE MONTH in advance of their unavailabilities as we need to find replacements early on and confirm with other coaches that they can take your shift.
We also do not want to bother coaches and we want to keep the same coaches at the same location with the same kids. We also want to use the same replacement coaches at that location.
How early should I arrive to my shift?
Coaches must arrive 10-15 minutes before their class starts to ensure they are not late as there are delays on the roads (traffic, accidents, car broke down).
We also want to ensure the classes start and end on time and also run smoothly without the class feeling rushed.
Is it mandatory to attend the team activities? Do I need to pay if I want to go?
Team activities are NOT mandatory, but they are always fun to attend! You get to know the team you work with during the season and the coaches you will be with throughout the season.
Also, team activities ARE COVERED by Sportball!
Are trainings mandatory? Am I paid to attend the trainings?
Trainings are mandatory for all coaches (new and experienced). Not only is it the training a good way to learn new tricks or get new ideas, it also allows you to meet new coaches you will be working with during the season. We also ensure you have all the necessary tools before the season begins!
Also, you are paid for the training.
Who should I contact if the location I am coaching at is not opened?
One coach will check Humanity for the emergency contact information and try contacting them using the phone number provided.
The other coach will send a message to the coordinator using Facebook Messenger ASAP.
What do I do if there is a storm (thunder, lightning, strong winds, heavy rain) (summer season)?
Classes are still on even if it is raining.
If you hear thunder or see lightning, and it feels dangerous, you take cover in your car. You need to stay on site (in your car) for your whole shift in case parents do come to the park or the storm passes, you will need to give the class. If the storm is not passing and you are still in your car, you are still getting paid for being there the whole shift and informing the parents who show up that you are waiting for the storm to pass.
This also avoids complaints from parents about the coaches not showing up to their shift when the weather was fine for their session.
Are we still giving classes if it is very hot and sunny (summer season)?
Yes, we still give classes!
Pack at least 2 cold water bottles or any sport drinks, a cap and sunscreen and take MANY water breaks!
If you can find a spot on the field where there is shade, please use it.
