Abandoned forms
Remind someone who started a form but did not complete it. Use a short, helpful message that lets the person return to their saved registration without making them start again.
Before you begin
Choose the form and confirm that the unfinished attempt contains usable contact information. Opening a form without supplying contact details is not enough to identify a recipient. The current abandoned-form selection requires an email address, even when you intend to use another supported sending channel.
Create the reminder
- Open Communications > Automations > Create.
- Choose Abandoned form, name the automation and select the form.
- Set the delay after the unfinished attempt and the sending time.
- Configure the message and its return-to-form link using the supplied template or appropriate attachment.
- Review the selected audience and saved message, then save and activate when ready.
For example: “You started a registration but have not finished it. Follow this link to continue. Contact us if you need help.” Check the return link with a suitable test record before relying on it for a campaign.
Understand when completion is checked
The automation selects attempts from the relevant day, using the organization’s timezone for the day boundaries. At that selection step, completed submissions are excluded, including a completed response on the same form with the same email address.
Selection and sending are separate steps. This automation does not promise a second completion check immediately before dispatch. Someone who completes the form after selection can still receive an already scheduled reminder. Avoid wording that claims their registration is definitely still incomplete at the instant they read the message.
Daily processing is not an exact elapsed-hours timer. Use the simulation and scheduled-send details to review the dates involved; do not assume a universal 4 a.m. local-time rule.
Review results
Open the automation’s Messages tab to inspect its send-outs and recipients. If a reminder is unexpected, compare the unfinished attempt, the completed response, email address and selection/sending dates. For follow-ups after a completed response, use form-response automation.
