Teams, team builder and gamesheets
Use Teams to run a league or a tournament. Each team has a manager, a roster of players, a division and a schedule of games. The Team builder places registered players on teams. Gamesheets record the score and each player's statistics on game day, and print for the bench.
Before you start
Teams is a module that support enables for your organization. When it is on, Teams, Team builder and Gamesheets appear in the Classes menu. If you do not see them, ask support to enable Teams. These pages are shown to owners and administrators.
Divisions are tags. Give each team the tags that describe its league and division, for example a league name and an age group. The Team builder, the schedule filters and Gamesheets all use these tags to choose which teams to show.
What a team is
A team is a class with the Team switch set to Yes. Like any class it has an attendance list, tags, messages and an archive. In addition it has:
- A manager. The person who registered the team. Messages to the manager go to this person.
- Players. The roster, shown in the Players column.
- A team invoice. The invoice the manager pays for the team. A team without an invoice shows None (house team).
- Games. Each game adds a dated event to both teams.
- A jersey image. Optional. It shows next to the team name in lists and on schedules.
A team can be created in two ways:
- By hand, with + › Add on the Teams page.
- From a team registration form. If your organization takes team registrations through a payment form built for teams, the team can be created for you after the manager's registration is finalized, with the roster listed in the form. Contact support to set up or check this form.
Add a team by hand
- Open Classes › Teams.
- Click the blue + button and choose Add. Only owners and administrators see this button.
- The window is titled Team. In the Information tab, enter a Name. The Team switch is already Yes.
- Optionally add a Jersey image.
- Add the division tags, then click Create.
To change a team later, click its row, change the fields and click Save. The Location tab says that the location is managed by the team schedule, because each game sets its own location.
Review teams and rosters
The Teams page lists one team per row with these columns: Name (jersey image and tags), Games, Manager, Players, Total, Balance and Locked. Total and Balance come from the team invoice. Owners and administrators also see Locked and the row menu.
Search by Team name, use the All / Archived filter, or filter by tags. The ⋮ menu has Download to Excel, Export participants, Archive / Restore and Tags under Bulk operations.
Click the number in Players to open the roster window. It shows:
- The Manager, with Is manager also a player? (Yes or No), a Message button and a button to change the manager.
- The Team invoice: its number, the total, Paid by manager and the balance.
- The Players with their Name, Jersey, Total $, Balance $ and Invoice.
The button that changes the manager is labeled Change in English and Monnaie in French. Choose another player of the roster as the new manager. When the team has a team invoice, the manager who owns that invoice must stay the manager, and the change is refused.
The row menu has Attendance list (the team's attendance list in a new tab), Team and Manager (message the whole team, or only the manager), Messages, and Archive or Restore. The Locked switch on a row locks that team against edits and archiving.
Schedule games
Click Teams schedule at the top of the Teams page. The window lists games from today to one month ahead, for the teams that match your tag filter. Change the date range to see other games. Each game shows Round, Day, Date, Time, Field, Home and Away. The Excel button downloads the same list.
To add a game, click Add. To edit one, click its row.
- In New game schedule, enter the Round.
- Choose the Home and Away teams. If a team is not known yet, check Temporary team name and type a name. Add Tags so the temporary team still appears in the right division.
- Set the Date, Time and Duration.
- Choose the Location address, then click Add. When you edit a game, the button is Save and Remove deletes the game.
Each game creates two linked events named like "Round (Home)" and "Round (Away)", one on each team.
Import a whole schedule
- On the Teams page, click + › Import schedule.
- Click Paste from Excel and paste your rows with these columns: Date, Time, Field, Home, Away, Round. A Duration column in minutes is optional. Dates look like 5/25/2024 and times like 06:30AM.
- Check the Schedule and Events tabs. Field names must match your locations, and team names must match your teams. When two teams share a name, filter by league or division first.
- Choose a default Duration for rows without one. It starts at 45 minutes.
- Check Replace only if you want to replace the current team schedules. A red warning says so. Then click Import.
Lock the schedule
Use ⋮ › Lock schedule to freeze the schedule once it is published. While it is locked, the schedule screens disable Add, editing and importing, and the lock shows who locked it. Use Unlock schedule to reopen it. Only owners and administrators lock or unlock, and the person who unlocks needs the permission to unlock.
Place players with the Team builder
Open Classes › Team builder. The page lets you place players on the teams of a division.
- In Source, choose the team whose players you want to place on other teams.
- In Division, choose the tag of the division. The page then shows the source team on the left and every other team with that tag on the right.
- Open the ⋮ menu beside a player and choose a team under Add to team.
- Repeat for each player. A check mark appears beside a player who is already on another team on the page. A friend named on the registration form appears beside the player.
Add to team adds the player to the chosen team and leaves the player on the source team. The player keeps the link to the original invoice. To take a player off one of the division teams, open the ⋮ menu and choose Remove. Confirm the message: removing a participant does not affect invoicing. The source team has no Remove option here.
Use the sort button at the top of each team to sort by name or by age. If the page says that no teams were found, no other team carries every division tag you chose. Check the tags on your teams.
Run games with Gamesheets
Open Classes › Gamesheets.
- Choose the Date.
- Choose the Division tags. Until you choose a division, the page asks you to Choose a division.
- Each game of that day appears as two sheets side by side, the home team and the visiting team. Only games created with Teams schedule or Import schedule appear.
On a sheet, click a player to open the Player window. Enter the Jersey number, Goals, Assists, and either Yellow and Red cards or, for hockey, Penalty minutes. Click Save. You can take a photo with Take photo or Upload an image, and Player statistics shows the player's game by game results. Remove takes the player off the roster of that team.
The big number at the top of a sheet is the team score, which is the sum of the players' goals. It shows ? until goals are entered and F for the team that forfeited.
Click the team bar to open the Team window. It shows the manager, the team invoice and a Forfeit actions section:
- Apply a forfeit win gives the entered score to the first player of this team, the one with the lowest jersey number, and gives the opposing team 0. Open it from the winning team. The opposing team shows F.
- Apply a both-way forfeit counts the entered score as goals against for both teams and as goals for neither. Both teams show F.
Both actions set every player's goals, assists, cards and penalty minutes for that game to 0, so use them before you enter player statistics.
At the top of the page:
- Player statistics opens the statistics table for the games and divisions you are viewing.
- Photo shows or hides player photos on the sheets.
- Print prints one game per page.
- Hockey downloads an Excel gamesheet. This button appears only when a selected division tag contains the word "hockey".
Where else teams appear
- On your website, with Teams on, the website editor offers the blocks Team standings, Teams schedule and Player statistics. See Add sections, blocks, and layouts.
- In My Account, a client who is on a team roster sees a Teams tab. They can open the roster, which hides contact details and invoice links.
