Activity Messenger Help Center Which report should I use? Sales and Payments answer different questions. A difference between their totals is expected when the sale date and the payment date are not in the same period. Open E-Commerce → Reports (on the newer navigation, Reports → Financial reports). You need permission to view financial reports. The date range uses the organization's timezone. See Financial reports for the full list. Sales or Payments Use Sales when the question is what you invoiced, and under which ledger code. The range uses when the sale or the item change was recorded, according to the status you select (Paid, Not paid, Credit, Cancelled, Refund, Cancelled or refund, or Item changes). A paid sale is not the same as a payment received in the period. Use Payments when the question is when and how you received or refunded money. Refunds are negative. The detail shows the paid date. If a class was sold in one month and the class dates are in another, those are different reports: Sales follows the sale or item-change date for the status you picked. Class sales report also uses a course-session date range. It keeps classes that have sessions in that range and drops sales whose class sessions fall outside it, even when the sale date is inside the sales period. A September sale for a class that meets in October can be left out if the session period does not include October. Set both the sales period and the session period to the dates you need. See Sales reports. Payments follows the date the money was received or refunded. The Payments table and its Excel file have no class or course column. The columns are Invoice, POS, Ledger code, Date, Client, Type, Status, Amount, Without taxes, Admin, Admin note, and Exception. See Payments reports. Payments by ledger code allocates money received or refunded. It is not the same as Sales by ledger codes, which groups invoiced sales.
